Prostate Cancer Risk Assessment and Consideration of Genetic Testing

The familial genetic link for prostate cancer is complex, however patients with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer may want to discuss if there is a role for genetic testing about their risk for prostate and other cancers.

As treatments for advanced prostate cancer evolves, some patients who have had or are considering tumour genetic testing may also consider familial genetic testing in select situations; they are advised to talk to their oncologists.
